The Rock Wood-fired Pizza & Spirits started the Schools of The Rock, Battle of the Bands in 2007 as a way to give back to local community school music programs. The founders, Jay Gigandet and Don Bellis worked with their media partner, KZOK Classic Rock and the Bob Rivers morning show team in that first year to make the idea come to life! Here we are five years later and stronger than ever.

The goal in creating the Battle five years ago was to inspire the art of classic rock in younger generations while allowing them the opportunity to compete to give back to their schools financially. School music programs are in dire need of financial support and we are proud to be able to step up and help our kids in a fun and entertaining way. We plan to continue to grow this program and with the help of our public and corporate sponsors, we can keep not only classic rock alive in our youth, but the love and art of music as well.

This year we have decided to take the Battle to a whole new level. The Schools of The Rock, Battle of the Bands is currently pending a 501c3 delegation and will now be run as a non-profit. We are excited about these changes and have chosen to take this important step so that we can give even more to our local school programs through public sponsorship and support. Help us help our kids.
